About me

lif

HaleakalaI’m Larry; welcome to one of my waystations on the webs.

The short take: I’m a technical marketing guy who’s worked with open systems and open source software in systems engineering and product marketing / management for a couple of decades, a bunch of that time with Sun Microsystems, and a bunch of that time on the Solaris team.

Before Sun?  Well, I used to be on staff at Cal State Northridge, where among other things I was the technical representative for the Cal State system to the Inter-University Consortium for Educational Computing (ICEC), one of the earliest development grounds for technologies like distributed computing and advanced window systems.

Practical XView Programming coverI’m the co-author of Practical XView Programming (note: not really very practical any more), published by John Wiley and Sons. I was also invited to contribute forewords to two books, both published by McGraw-Hill Educational.

I’ve spent a lot of time distilling, simplifying, and communicating the values of complex technical products to a variety of audiences, and am looking for a great company to put my skills, experience, and passion to work for.
